Description
Use for: Flaxseed oil is mainly used for nutritional purpose. It is also used for diabetic foot ulcers and dry eyes, heart disease, carpul tunnel syndrome, dry and cracked skin condition.
Concerns: Flaxseed oil is mostly well tolerated with some gastrointestinal side effects of loose stools and abdominal pain. It may affect the platelet aggregation procedure so use with caution for the patients with bleeding disorder. Patients with scheduled elective surgery should stop flaxseed oil 2 weeks before the surgery. It may have some effects of decreasing blood pressure but it is minor concern with monitoring necessity on use. Not recommended on pregnancy and avoid using it on lactation.
