Description
Use for: Ginseng is used for increasing resistance to environmental stress and improving well-being. It is also used for stimulating immune function, improving stamina, cognitive function, concentration, memory and work efficiency. It is also used for peripheral arterial disease (PAD), atherosclerosis, angina, cardiac reperfusion, chronic fatigue syndrome and other disorders of the central nervous system.
Concerns: Ginseng is mostly well tolerated for short-term up to 6 months. Some people may experience insomnia, enema, hypotension, headache and vertigo. American ginseng may reduce the effect of warfarin on a higher level of severity than other types of ginseng that may show the lowering effect of warfarin on concomitant use. Avoid using on pregnancy and lactation.
Ginseng has several types such as Panax ginseng, American ginseng, Siberian ginseng and each product has different features of efficacy profile.
